It was a tricky race! But Ts’epang Khumalo, a fourth year National University of Lesotho (NUL) Economics student was willing to take it on! She faced not only tens of students from 15 other African Universities in the area of Economics, but 11 of her own NUL colleagues.
Ultimately, only she and her counterpart from Kenya came out triumphant—ready to represent African Economics students!
For the past two years, one of Lesotho’s young leaders Mrs Relebohile Hlabana-Ketsi from the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Department of Environmental Health, has been engaged in training unemployed graduates to start manufacturing businesses using existing technology (innovation through reverse engineering), as her community outreach.
Mr Amohelang Thoabala, the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Computer Science student is at it again! He is creating an online blog in which all of Lesotho’s creative minds, in and outside the NUL, will share brilliant ideas and solve problems about anything!
“I have been holed up for some time, focusing on using different programming languages to develop this platform,” Thoabala revealed. “I hope it will benefit all of us.”
The competition was fierce! But when the dust settled, the National University of Lesotho (NUL) and its partners were still standing. They immediately scooped a gigantic one Million Maloti in Sanbio-BioFISA funding, part of which will see NUL introduce a Micro-Incubator for NUL Consumer Science Graduates!
“The purpose is to create employment for our graduates,” said Dr Pulane Nkhabutlane, a leading member of the NUL side of the partnership.

The registered brand, developed and promoted by Lerato Albert Mokokoane, a Sociology and Development Studies student, is already making rounds on t-shirts, women dresses and sweaters in the markets.
If things go according to plan, new shoes grazed by the brand, will also flood the local fashion scene in time!

Abstract
The National University of Lesotho (NUL) stunned scientists and clean energy researchers from all over the world in Germany! It won the Second Price Award at the International Conference on Solar Technologies held in Bad Hersfeld, Frankfurt, Germany more than a week ago!
That happened as NUL scientists displayed their brilliant NUL made solar thermal system which, as we talk, is being enjoyed by an 80 year old lady in Nazareth, Machache! It is a system that heats up your water so you can bath, wash your clothes and dishes and even cook, all without a need for electricity!

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) Department of Physics and Electronics launched a series of short courses on sustainable energy in a glitzy occasion held on Thursday last week.
“The short courses, each one spanning a week in duration, are open to members of the public,” said Dr Moeketsi Mpholo from the Department as he introduced the proposal in the event held at NUL ISAS Auditorium.
“For each course, you will either receive a certificate of attendance or a certificate of competence, depending on your performance,” he said.
