As members of the National University of Lesotho (NUL)’s Engineered Stone research team which includes Mr Lesia Matlali and Mr Setlhare Jane move around Lesotho, they are not only fascinated by Lesotho’s abundant stone resources, they are determined to turn them into remarkable products.

NUL RESEARCH ASSISTANT TAKES REMOTE SENSING TO ANOTHER LEVEL

Tiiso Ramadumane, the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Research Assistant supervised by Mr Seforo Mohlalisi has developed a remote sensing system that tells you liquid level in terms of volumes in any of your storage devices, live, on your mobile-phone!

If, for instance, you are a mobile service provider, you don’t have to worry about a tower shutting down and signal running out unexpectedly due to low diesel levels.

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) ChatBot is a brilliant "human-free" platform created by NUL student, Kabelo Lekhatla, which “understands” and answers your specific questions on Facebook, among other things.

It understands your questions no matter how you ask them, as if you are being responded to by a human. For instance, if you type a question, “what are the NUL tuition fees?” or “can you provide tuition fees?” it answers, “for which of the faculties below?” and then it lists the Faculties.

NUL GRADUATE WINS GLOBAL HEROES PLATFORM AWARD FOR HIS AGRIC-WORK

The competition involved 123 participants from 49 different countries in 4 continents. Out of all these, Letsatsi Lekhooa, the former National University of Lesotho (NUL) Mathematics and Computer Science Student was number one after beating 122 other entrants. That is thanks to his work on sustainable agriculture, a development of his own orchard and community service in his village!

Good news for potential postgraduate students. When the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology accepts you into its reviewed Masters programme, it offers competitive funding.

“We are the first Department in the University to develop and test-drive this model,” says Dr Emmanuel Tanor, head of the Department. “Surely, we won’t be the last Department”, he added.
