At the very first technology conference named TechCon Lesotho held on 25 – 26 September 2019 BasaliTech announced its partnership with Pegasus Tech Ventures, a Silicon Valley based venture capital firm to allow Basotho to participate in the startup world cup for the very first time in May 2020.
The startup world cup (SWC) is the largest conference and startup competition in the world that brings together winners from regional competitions all over the world to learn from investors through the conference and compete for the grand prize at the pitch finals. This is an opportunity for Basotho to learn from entrepreneurs from around the world and open Lesotho to new investment opportunities as well as introducing them to global ecosystems and diverse strategies to implement back home.
BasaliTech and interested partners will host the Start-up World Cup Lesotho Regional Competition, applications are open online on:

Where any startup can submit its product or idea to enter the competition.
How does it work?
Startups must download the submission PowerPoint template from the above link, fill in their details and apply. A short video for the idea or product may be required at submission. The startups that apply are not restricted to technology and they can be male or female led.
Deadline for applications is 31 January 2020
The startup world cup team will shortlist and announce the top 10 startups which will participate at the Lesotho SWC regional competition in March 2020. A panel of esteemed judges will then work together at the regional competition to select the winner of the Lesotho Regional SWC competition.
The Lesotho Regional Winner will win
(a) A trophy and get Free tickets to represent Lesotho at the 3-day SWC grand finale in San Francisco in May 2020
(b) A chance to compete for the $1,000,000 grand prize
(c) Potential investors at the conference interested in their product or idea
(d) Valuable international marketing through the SWC media and the 2500+ attendees.
