The Faculty of Law at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) will hold a public Lecture on the theme “Mandate of Ombudsman in Administration of Justice in Lesotho:Lessons from the Office of the Public Protector South Africa”. Amongst the issues to be discussed in this lecture are:
(1) Maladministration and corruption in the public service;
(2) Delays in the issuing of judgments by the judiciary; and
(3) Executive or ministerial accountability.
The guest lecture is Advocate Kevin Malunga, the Deputy Public Protector in the Republic of South Africa. The office of the Public Protector is established under section 181 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996. It is an independent institution akin to the Office of the Ombudsman,
which is established under section 134 of the Constitution of Lesotho 1993.
The lecture is scheduled to take place on 22 November 2019 at 10:00 am in ISAS Auditorium, at NUL.
