International Author, Airman at Lesotho Defence Force and Deputy Director of the PLO Lumumba Foundation Lesotho Chapter—Mr Bothata Kennedy Silase scooped the best novelist award at Mulher Forte African Literature Awards 2021 Edition. He is a graduate of the National University of Lesotho (NUL ).
The 30 year old international author from Lesotho was named the recipient of the Mulher Forte African Literature Awards under category in the ceremony that was held in Botswana. Silase brought the best novelist award to Lesotho with his novel called The Recoil which is one of the best-selling books on international platforms such as Amazon and Smash words.
The Recoil follows the life of Masilo Mokoena who was one of the best intellectuals in Lesotho. After completion of his Cambridge Overseas Schools Certificate (C.O.S.C), he enrolled at the National University of Lesotho (N.U.L) to attain his Bachelors’ Degree. But suffice it to say, he succumbed to peer pressure, failed the first year of his BSc Computer Science and ended up committing a series of crimes.
He decided to join Lesotho Defence Force when he lost funding to attend university, and he passed the vetting process of the army as his malicious deeds had not yet come to light. The army was impressed by his meritorious service and he was subsequently sent to India to attend a cadet course. Upon his return from India, he was promoted from the rank of Private to that of Second Lieutenant.
Be that as it may, an investigation carried out subsequently revealed his crimes and impacted significantly on his life.
Silase was lashed with an agony of elation when he received the award.
