The Energy Research Centre (ERC) has again done wonders by receiving a brand new mobile Solar Trailer with the warm-hearted financial support of the Austrian Development Agency through the SOLTRAIN project. The Solar Trailer is fitted with solar gadgets ideal for demonstrations to give the Basotho nation the actual feel of the functionality of Solar Hot Water Systems (SHWS) as ERC moves from village to village to effectively spread the solar energy access gospel across our country.

So, exactly what does our Solar Trailer demonstrate?

The primary objective of our Solar Trailer is to be utilised in ERC outreach programmes to spread awareness of SHWS through demonstrations as a way of motivating adaptation of SHWS for domestic, commercial, institutional and industrial usage as well as influencing policy to create a conducive environment for the adaptation of SHWS. Moreover, the Solar Trailer will be used as a teaching and/or research tool for both students and staff to perform data analysis and assess performance to help design and optimize solar thermal systems in Lesotho.

To kick-start the outreach activities, the ERC will hold a Solar Open Day on Thursday 8th April 2021 at Roma campus by the main gate, from 10 AM to 3 PM, to demonstrate the Solar Trailer systems as well as a number of solar products and services by both the solar-related companies and the ERC students and staff. The invitation is open to everyone!

If your company would like to demonstrate some solar-related products/services, please contact Ntate Moruti Kao (+266 62572290/58572290).

Be part of this productive research group by enrolling in our MSc in Sustainable Energy. Applications are open until 30th April 2021. For further information please visit https://erc.nul.ls/msc or send an email to energy@nul.ls or contact +266 58585008.
