The TechCon, to be held virtually on Saturday 31 October 2020, is an initiative of BasaliTech and an annual conference that delves into technology-related content, products, and services available to help companies and individuals stay relevant in the market. It aims to gather industry professionals, higher education students, and companies in a single forum to share and learn while encouraging further uptake of technology and providing relevant solutions.
In 2019, the TechCon held at Manthabiseng Convention Center saw over 250 attendees and 15+ speakers over the two days. Subject matter experts presented various technologies (Artificial intelligence, drone technologies, blockchain, and more). There were also two panel discussions, one by corporates to discuss the technical skills gap in their companies and one by academia on how their curricula are meeting the demand of corporates. The event was fun, showcasing various technologies for the audience to engage with.
This year, the TechCon will be a virtual 1-day event with the theme: Technology for development. It will mainly be focused on how some technologies can be used to drive development in Lesotho and Africa as a continent.
